Hey all! The new PREVIEWS came out today. For those that aren't aware of what that is, it's basically the catalog for all the comics available to order from the numerous comic companies. ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL # 15 is among them, and if at all possible, please remind your store that you dig it.
I only ask because there is another ANGEL comic, entitled ANGEL:SMILE TIME. This is an adaptation of the classic ANGEL episode by Mr. Scott Tipton and Mr. David Messina, who gave us the wonderful ANGEL:AULD ANG SYNE, among other books. I'm kinda worried that as the SMILE TIME book's ad is bigger and placed before AFTER THE FALL, stores may miss ATF and then you would miss a chapter and oh MAN would I hear it.
ANGEL:SMILE TIME is gonna be great, you should ask for that as well. I've never read anything by Tipton and Messina that I didn't like, and I'm fairly sure they're expanding on the original episode, bringing out all new greatness. Definitely check that out.
Meantime, hope you enjoy issue 15 when it comes out. It's the return of Mr. Urru, which makes me all sorts of happy.
On a related note, Stephen Mooney just sent me pages for 14 and holy crap. This thing is great. Mooney is on fire, I love how this series is coming along.
I just read the pdf files for SPIKE:AFTER THE FALL issue 4. Last issue of the series, and it came out wonderful. The entire issue is almost one long scene, but so much is revealed and wrapped up. Franco's art is stellar, his best, easily. He does panels of Illyria's face that are like looking at stills from new episodes of ANGEL (or, in this case, SPIKE).
It's hands down the most brutal issue of any ANGEL/SPIKE book I've ever written (I think runner up is issue 11 of ANGEL:ATF...but it's a distant second). But it's also kinda funny, heartbreaking...I think you'll dig.
Issue 3 comes out this week (or so I've been told) and it's stellar too, I am really proud of this series. Couldn't be happier with how it came out.
This is a thing of beauty. If you haven't read the series yet, but enjoy my work on ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL (or artist Dave Crosland...and if you don't love him, there is no hope for you), here's your chance to get the entire series in one handy volume.
Here is the collected edition, next to a penny so you can see how big it is. Not quite sure why I put the penny there, it just seems like the universal way of establishing size in catalogs.
The back cover. With rave reviews from Wizard Magazine, Pat Shand over at Buffyverse Reviews, and Broken Frontier.
The introduction, by me. About how I tried to get other people to do it. It's a long, hopefully funny, story.
The official EVERYBODY'S DEAD drinking game. In case you want to take your enjoyment of the series to a whole new level.
Character profiles along with Dave's original character sketches. Lots to read and soak in.
And finally, the most important part of the book: the actual comic. All five issues, featuring the beautiful art of Dave Crosland and the equally beautiful coloring of Len O'Grady. Words by some schmuck.
This has been in my head for well over a decade. I can't express what it means to have it in my hands.
And you can have it in YOUR hands, just order it HERE!
Hope you guys give it a chance. And if you do, I hope you enjoy it!
Check it out. Day after ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL: FIRST NIGHT came, EVERYBODY'S DEAD trade paperback is on my doorstep. I'll post more pictures later. It is beeeeeeautiful. Much thanks to Chris, Ted, Justin, everyone at IDW. And of course, Mr. Crosland.
Just got a big box full of ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL VOLUME 2 (FIRST NIGHT) hardcovers! They came out BEAUTIFUL! From Alex Garner's new Wesley cover on down, it is such a classy production.
SPOILERS: there is no bookmark. This made me sad. This is the only thing that made me sad. But the rest, perfection. The printing is beautiful, the chapter title pages, amazing, it's jam-packed full of notes and new stuff.
Enough gabbing, let's take a look!
Check out shiny ghost Wesley. It's embossed so he looks extra-ghostlike. Amazing. I didn't mean to cover Joss' name, my bad.
Spike's Title Page and cover. Awesome!
Lorne's. Oh John Byrne.
This is one of the extras, a detailed explanation of FIRST NIGHT stories we didn't do. Other extras include page notes a la SPIKE:ASYLUM, etc. and a GROOSABLOG. This might be my favorite extra ever. You have to see for yourself. That specific extra also features a brilliant new piece of art by Franco Urru.
The two volumes together. How sweet!
Hope you enjoy! It's only a few weeks away, reserve yours now!
Hope you guys enjoy! I just proofed another issue (last glance for changes to dialog, etc) while writing yet ANOTHER, and I couldn't be happier with how the series is going. I think you guys are all in for a treat. A big, messy, violent, heartbreaking, funny, emotional treat.
And I implore you, to insure you enjoy issue 12, refrain from reading any threads or posts about it until after you have it in your hands. Trust me.
Gonna be a good month. We have ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL # 12 this Thursday. Lots of revelations and surprises. CONNOR/KATE FIRST NIGHT artist Stephen Mooney provides the bulk of the art, with a two page spread by Nick Runge that...
...well, you'll see.
I promise you, if you read this book before reading threads about this book, you will enjoy it a hundred times more. Go in fresh, you'll thank me.
Got a bunch of pages from Franco last night for SPIKE:AFTER THE FALL # 4, and whoa nelly, does that series end huge. And dark. And kinda brutal. You guys'll dig.
